Keohanes Receive Honorary Doctor of Letters Degrees from University of St. Andrews

Professors Robert O. Keohane and Nannerl O. Keohane were awarded honorary doctor of letters degrees by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland on June 23, 2015.
 
Robert is a professor of international affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, former president of the American Political Science Association and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Nannerl was the Laurance S. Rockefeller Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Affairs between 2005 and 2013 and a senior scholar from 2013 to 2014 at the Wilson School and Princeton University’s Center for Human Values. She is currently a visitor at the Institute for Advanced Study based in Princeton, N.J.
 
The Keohanes were individually honored for their contributions. Nannerl, a scholar of political philosophy, was recognized for her significant leadership in higher education as president of Wellesley College (1981–1993) and Duke University (1993–2004) as well as her scholarly work, including “Philosophy and the State in France” (1980).  Robert received the accolade for his lifetime of scholarship in the study of world politics, including “Power and Interdependence” (1977) with Joseph S. Nye; “After Hegemony: Cooperation and Discord in the World Political Economy” (1984); and “Designing Social Inquiry” (1994) with Gary King and Sydney Verba.
