FALL 2012: Study Abroad at Institute of Political Studies
Overview
For over one hundred years, the Institut d'Etudes Politiques, commonly known as "Sciences Po," has been training the best young minds of France for leadership service. One of Europe's most distinguished grandes écoles, Sciences Po prepares its graduates for careers in international business, multi-national organizations, the public sector, and other areas.
Students are drawn to Sciences Po for its commitment to an understanding of the contemporary world through an interdisciplinary approach in the social sciences. International students benefit from solid training in contemporary history and Sciences Po's famous method-training seminars, but also from the diverse international student body.
Princeton's exchange agreement with the Sciences Po gives qualified students access to the International Program. More than 400 students from over 55 nations enroll each year in the Program, which is an integral part of Sciences Po's undergraduate program. Students participating in this program are considered full-time students, and they take part in a fully integrated curriculum. Through the program, Princeton students can develop their understanding and knowledge of contemporary European society.
Woodrow Wilson School students attend Sciences Po in the fall semester and can take advantage of the Stage d'Intégration before the school year begins. In the fall, the Woodrow Wilson School organizes a Policy Task Force for its juniors with a member of the faculty of Sciences Po.
Applicants should be good speakers of French and have earned a B+ or better in coursework from French 207 and above. In addition to language ability, students who wish to study at Sciences Po should have at least a 3.3 GPA to be considered for admission.
