Hertford Program Fee for Fall 2013
(Fees for visiting students at Hertford are set in British pounds sterling [£] and are therefore subject to fluctuations in the currency.)
The fees for tuition and accommodation are £11,960 (includes tuition; accommodation, catering, facilities, welfare). Note: these are 2012 fees; 2013 fees are not yet available
The fees cover the four-week intensive course and the two Oxford tutorials, membership in the college and the university as a visiting student, admission to all university lectures, the right to use university facilities (libraries, computing facilities, sports center, etc.), accommodation within Hertford College, one meal each day of the week. The dollar amount of the fee will depend upon the exchange rate at the time the invoice is produced.
Students who cancel their participation in the program in writing before the arrival date are entitled to a refund of the Hertford Program Fee, excluding a 10% deposit. Once the program begins, Hertford will not refund program fees as the result of a participant’s late arrival, non-attendance of, withdrawal from, or removal (based on inappropriate behavior) from the program. In the event that a student must leave the program due to documented illness or serious physical injury, program fees or other monies paid to Hertford will be refunded on a pro rata basis, excluding a non-refundable Oxford University fee of £2,033.
Travel:
Students will be responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Oxford. Round-trip airfare from New York is usually around $1000, but cheaper flights are often possible.
Insurance:
All students are required to carry health insurance. Student health insurance that is valid overseas may be purchased through Princeton University for $950 per semester. Students who are covered by other insurance plans must confirm that they will be covered while studying abroad and that their coverage is equivalent to the Princeton plan.
Personal Expenses:
Personal expenses vary widely depending upon each individual. Students who plan to travel in Europe before or after the program should budget carefully and be aware of the many student discounts that are available.
Passport:
Students are responsible for ensuring that their passports are valid for their entire stay in the United Kingdom. U.S. passport fees are $110 (application fee) plus a $25 execution fee. Fees are $110 to renew your passport. For further information on renewing or obtaining a passport, please consult the U.S. Department of State passport website.
Students who are not U.S. citizens should check with the British Consulate to determine whether a visa will be required for entry. The Office of International Programs will also provide visa information at the pre-departure meeting.
