Deniz Aksoy's research is motivated by an interest in comparative political institutions and the influence of institutions on political behavior. She has published a series of articles which study the way legislative institutional arrangements shape legislative behavior, with a focus on the European Union. Currently, she is working on a set of projects which aim to understand the influence of domestic political institutions on patterns of terrorism, mostly in democratic countries. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, European Union Politics, Legislative Studies Quarterly and International Migration. She has previously taught courses on ethnicity and immigration, the European Union, and introduction to comparative politics at the Pennsylvania State University.
