Her fields of interest are economic development, applied microeconomics, and health. Her research in development economics has been concerned with saving and consumption behavior, the consequences of demographic change for saving and growth, and the measurement of poverty and inequality. She is currently researching income gradients in children's health outcomes, income inequality and mortality, racial differences in health outcomes, and the relationship between economic status and child abuse. Ph.D. Columbia University.
Christina Paxson directs the Center for Health and Wellbeing. She is affiliated with the Department of Economics, the Research Program in Development Studies, and the Office of Population Research.
