Jon Corzine, the John L. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs & Co. Visiting Professor at the Woodrow Wilson School and former New Jersey governor and U.S. senator will kick-off the School's "Financial Market Regulation" series with a public talk titled, "After the Crash: Regulating the New American Economy," at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2010 in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall.

Corzine served as the state’s governor from 2006 to 2010 and as one of its senators from 2001 until 2006. While governor, Corzine served as an ex officio member of Princeton's Board of Trustees, a position held by each sitting governor of New Jersey.

Corzine also served under President Bill Clinton as chairman of a presidential commission studying ways to increase federal investment in schools, infrastructure and technology.

Corzine now serves as chairman and CEO of MF Global, an international broker and intermediary firm offering solutions in global cash, derivatives and related markets.

Corzine graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign and earned his master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In between, he served for six years in the Marine Corps Reserve, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

The Financial Market Regulation series is one of five new thematic lecture series that includes Race and Public Policy; Intractable Conflicts; Implementing Healthcare Reform (co-sponsored with the School’s Center for Health and Wellbeing); and Changing Notions of State, Sovereignty, and Self-Determination (co-sponsored with The Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination as part of their 10th anniversary). Each series will feature four to six lectures and/or panel discussions that will convene noted scholars, diplomats, think tank, public policy and government officials to discuss pressing policy issues.

This event is free and open to the public.
