Ambassador Christopher Hill

Four-time U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill will deliver an “Up to the Minute” talk on issues around the world titled, “Global Hot Spots: A Diplomat’s View,” at 4:30pm on Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall, on the Princeton University campus. *Tickets are required for entry into Dodds.

Ambassador Hill is the School’s 2014 Syngman Rhee 1910 Lecturer. He will be visiting as part of the School’s Program in Leadership and Governance. 
 
Ambassador Hill is currently dean of the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. In addition to leading the Josef Korbel School, Hill is a monthly columnist for Project Syndicate, a global news, commentary and analysis website. 
 
Prior to his role at the University of Denver, Hill served as U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, the Republic of Korea, Poland, the Republic of Macedonia and as Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. In addition, Hill was the head of the U.S. delegation to the Six Party Talks on the North Korean nuclear issue and Special Envoy to Kosovo. He has also served as a special assistant to the president and a senior director on the staff of the National Security Council. 
 
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Hill served in the Peace Corps where he supervised credit unions in rural Cameroon, West Africa. He graduated from Bowdoin College with a bachelor’s in economics and received a master’s degree from the Naval War College. *Tickets will be available to Princeton University students, faculty, staff and the general public on a first-come, first-serve basis, beginning at 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Frist Campus Center Ticket Office on Monday, March 24. Distribution will continue while supplies last on Tuesday, March 25 beginning at 12 noon through Wednesday, April 2. For those unable to get a ticket, there will be a wait line outside of Dodds Auditorium on Thursday, April 3, beginning at 4:00 p.m. This event will be simulcast in Bowl 016.
