The M.P.P. program is an intensive, 10-month residential program. Although there are no mandatory courses aside from the summer core preparation, students are encouraged to take further coursework in economic analysis.  Candidates normally specialize in one of the School’s four fields of concentration. In consultation with faculty advisors, students also may devise programs of study that combine fields of concentration with courses offered by other University departments.  Students also may pursue certificate study with permission of the relevant faculty chair.  Physicians and Ph.D. scientists enrolled in the M.P.P. program will be encouraged, but not required, to enroll in the HHP and STEP certificate programs, respectively. The School’s flexible curriculum provides the unique opportunity for M.P.P. students to tailor their learning experience at Princeton to their individual needs and objectives.  As part of the summer program, M.P.P. students participate in a leadership and policy skills seminar designed to introduce important policy issues and the art of policy analysis. Throughout the academic year, students participate in a Friday-afternoon M.P.P. forum that encourages them to share their career experiences with classmates, M.P.A. students, and others in the University community. M.P.P. students also may participate in a wide range of professional development workshops run by the Office of Graduate Career Services.
