The Woodrow Wilson School's Education Research Section (ERS) will co-host a conference titled, "The Education Preschool Curriculum Decision Making: Exploring Key Curriculum Models and Reviewing the Evidence-Base" on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall on the Princeton University campus.
The day-long event will feature presentations by the developers of six preschool curriculum models. Participants will learn about the philosophy driving the curricula, the research supporting each curriculum, how each approaches differentiated learning, and implementation issues or struggles. The six models to be discussed include:
* HighScope Preschool Curriculum
* Teaching Strategies' Creative Curriculum for Preschool
* Tools of the Mind: A Vygotskian Based Early Childhood Curriculum
* Curiosity Corner
* Pyramid Approach for Young Children
* Opening the World of Learning
Presentations will be followed by feedback and commentary from teachers in the field who have implemented the curriculum.
This conference is recommended for superintendents, childcare directors, early childhood supervisors and other school personnel involved in the preschool curriculum decision-making process. It is also recommended for districts or centers who have not yet implemented a published curriculum, who are unsure about their current curriculum, or who are exploring a change in curriculum. Seven Professional Development hours will be awarded for participation.
This event is co-sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School’s Education Research Section and the National Institute for Early Education Research and The Division of Early Childhood Education (NJDOE).
