Gillian Morejon Gutierrez MPA-URP '06

Jill Morejon Gutierrez applied to WWS because of the mix of interests, people, and professional and academic backgrounds.

Jill needed 25 years to figure out how to combine her Cuban-American heritage with her love for her home state of Maine. A Watson fellowship took her to Chile, Portugal and the Philippines, to investigate a phenomenon close to home – community change stemming from the fishing industry’s globalization. Her work at a think-tank on U.S.–Latin American relations focused on women’s leadership, press freedom and migrant remittances to Central America.

After graduation from the WWS, she became an MBA Fellow with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington , DC and is currently a Program Analyst with the Women's Bureau in the Department of Labor. She says her experience at the "Woo" was one of the most challenging and positive of her life.
