The OIT dial-in remote access services was discontinued on July 1, 2007. See OIT's Knowledge Base articles for more information on the following.

The WWS toll free dial in number was also discontinued.

Wireless Broadband

Wireless broadband is a technology that makes high-speed Internet access possible over a wireless network, which is equivalent to your cellular phone. This option uses a wireless network card for your laptop. Several wireless carriers offer broad band data cards. There is a monthly charge of approximately $40. Also, OIT has initiated a Wireless Broadband Data Card Loaner Program for short term loans.

Using Your BlackBerry as a Tethered Modem

It's possible to use a some BlackBerry models as an external modem to connect a computer or laptop to the Internet anywhere your BlackBerry can connect. While it does not provide broadband speed, the connection is fine for emailing, blogging, and light web browsing. Contact the WWS Help Desk if you would like to configure your BlackBerry this way.
