"Lahza" (Glimpse or Moment)
Over 450,000 stateless Palestinians currently live in Lebanon. In most cases, they, or their parents, or their grandparents arrived in Lebanon in 1948 after the creation of the state of Israel. Another wave arrived after the 1967 war. While the UN provides rudimentary schooling and healthcare for most Palestinian refugees, most live in poverty in lawless camps. Palestinians in Lebanon do not have the right to work or to own property. Any refugee born after 1948 has never known life outside of the camps.
The children who took these pictures offer a glimpse into the daily life of the Palestinians of Lebanon. Their photos show the happiness and hardship that refugees face on a daily basis, all through the eyes of society's most innocent members.
